The 2016 Toyota RAV4 is going to be a competitive crossover vehicle as it ever was. The new addition will be a great addition to the Toyota line and will continue the good utility nature that the vehicle has had. This year it comes with some updated safety systems and also with an abundance of interior space on the inside, but also a new trim option as now we also get the hybrid version available for the 2016 model year.
The 2016 RAV4 is the latest update to the small utility segment of the Toyota roster for this year. The car has been hugely updated with a set of some new features added to the inside which will enhance the comfort and the utility of the vehicle but also there are some new parts of it at the outside of the car. But the biggest news comes with the added 2016 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid trim, as we finally have a fuel economy option to this segment. This is also going to be the first hybrid in the small SUV segment currently.
What Toyota did for the update of the RAV4 vehicle for this year is to utilize the customer feedback. The car has been revised with the input taken from the fans and customers and the majority of the wishes were orientated to the inside of the car. The vehicle has been given a massive overhaul on the interior part and it may prove to be that the fulfilled wishes of the fans will add even more attention to this car. The review will help you get a better perspective about the car and you will be able to find out all of the stats that are needed about the car.
The new Toyota model ranks up pretty well with the competition that it has in from of it, like the 2016 Ford Escape, 2016 Hyundai Santa Fe and 2016 Subaru Forester models. but there is more to expect with models such as the 2017 Honda CR-V that are yet to be released and also the Mazda CX-5 as well.
2016 Toyota RAV4 exterior
Being on the market for its fourth year, the 2016 Toyota RAV4 will not get only a minor refresh. In fact it will still look as a boxy crossover utility car as it was for the last 20 years or so but some minor additions are going to be added to distinguish the new model from the older versions. The font end of the car has received a better part of this revision as it has been made to look more blunter than before. The front part actually has some peculiar design cues which are uncharacteristic of the Toyota vehicles, but it shapes itself well for the 2016 model. It has some new headlight units added with a slip like opening above the bumper line. The air flow has been directed through a trapezoidal opening beneath which is shaped in a shield manner and that way give a sort of an underbite to the car. This adds more intelligence to the car and poses a more serious truck-like front end for the vehicle.
The general profile for the car is similar to that of the competition that the RAV4 is facing now and the back part receives a whole new set of inclusions as well. This is mainly due to the unusual taillights that are fitted at the back but all in all the back part remains upright and chunky looking as before. For those of you who want to reminiscent to the older models of the Toyota RAV4 car, you can choose a two-tone color pallet available for the SE trim. This model has silver color added to the front and rear bumpers, rocker panels and wheel arches. This is certainly a threat for all those nostalgic fans out there.
The inside part holds the most interesting part of the 2016 Toyota RAV4 update. The instrument panel looks much busier now as it has been updated with all sorts of features that make it on top of it. The storage area on the dash has been enhanced while the materials have been improved. The lower end models still have some plastic elements but the high end trims come with an updated which includes some soft touch surfaces and quality materials to the seats. The two tone upholstery with some contrasting stitching is also a fine addition which makes the inside look aesthetically better.
After the 2013 model, the RAV4 vehicle lost its third row of seats which immediately gave more space and roominess on the inside and resulted with a lot more comfort. The 2016 Toyota RAV4 model also has this feature and the interior space is immense. Add to that the updated materials and we get a perfect setting for any family to enjoy.
For the upcoming year there are going to be only two powertrain options offered. The base 2016 Toyota RAV4 is going to feature a 176-horsepower 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that comes paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. If you want to have a more enjoyable drive there is also an option of adding a automatic’s sport-shift mode which recommended for family oriented drivers. The car can speed up to 0-60 mph in less than 9 seconds with this kind of a setup and adds an all-wheel drive option as well. Perhaps it is not as quick as you might think it to be, but it is appropriate for its primary function.
The added engine option this year is the Hybrid drivetrain which utilizes the 154-hp 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine and combines it with a latest generation of Toyota’s two-motor Hybrid Synergy Drive system and results with a total output of 194 hp. The AWD system is a standard option on the RAV4 Hybrid version and makes the car quicker as it can speed up to 0-60 mph in 8.1 seconds. The EPA rating are rated at 33 mpg combined, which is a 30% improvement compared to the standard models.
