2016 Ford Edge Release Date, Specs & Info

2016 Ford Edge Release Date, Colors, Interior, Specs, MPG – The 2016 Ford Edge comes with everything that you may need out of a car tech-wise, but does not come with a third row of seats nor a high luxury badge. Ford has decided to take a new direction with tis utility vehicles as of late and has been designing them differently compared to the Escape, Explorer and the Flex. This makes way for the Edge car which is going to rally the diversity of these cars.

The redesign that the Ford Edge has gone through for the forthcoming year is going to make it the its best version that was ever released. The added features and cues are very appropriate for the car in the utility segment and will make a lot of people happy this way. But if you need a car that has a third row of seats this is not an appropriate choice. Nor does it come with a high luxury feel to it but it is not required to. The car has already a good and a nice setup like this and should continue to evolve it like that. The latest Ford vehicel will also need to face some other big brand names which come in the form of Nissan Murano, Jeep Grand Cherokee model, Toyota 4Runner and Dodge Journey.

This is the second generation model of the Edge vehicles that is being produced. This time they come with Ford Fusion underpinning which will make it a global car. With some refined cabin appointments and a very robust line of engines that back it up it is a perfect redesign and upgrade of a vehicle exemplified by Ford. 2016 Ford Edge interior

The inside of the upcoming Ford Edge vehicle has changed dramatically compared with the image we have been used to. Not only has the car adopted certain new aspects now but the general feel of the interior part of the car is that it is quite warmer and much handsome than before. Compared to the previous design, the 2016 gets a much more upscale look with aesthetic additions which make it seem more formal than before. The interior has been elevated, particularly compared to the Fusion vehicles, particularly from the design standpoint of view. The functionality of the interior is also a good thing now as it was considerably improved. There were a lot of troublesome parts that needed a tweak and have been upgraded now.

There are virtually soft touch materials everywhere now inside the Edge car. Controls have been simplified considerably and have been set to face center console and have a matte-black trim. The gauge cluster has been reconfigured as well and will be navigated through the steering wheel now. The obnoxious piano-black materials are still in the door panels and cup holders and we would like to see some more lighter tones added as a choice as well, but these are in fact the only faults that we can notice about the Edge for now. It is a little bit darkish inside the Edge but in fact it is a globally present addition as all Ford vehicles come with a setup like that.

Exterior

The thing with the outside design is that it has not changed as considerably as the interior so the 2016 Ford Edge looks similar to as before, but does include some new additions to its design. But the way the outside has been made is as an evolution to the present model and not just a mere redesign. The front part is a bit rakish than before while it comes with a very bold grille as well. The side profile has been framed with some sloped pillars and enables a more homely look like that. There are some additions to the design that were deemed as “classic” Edge features and include the crossbars in the grille, the upkick of the thick rear pillar, the beltline crease and it all helps to make the styling of the car look a bit more lighter and but also agile on its feet.

Engine

The new 2016 Ford Edge goes for a change under the hood and uses the Ford’s 2.0-liter EcoBoost as a base choice now. This engine was remodeled a bit and with the added twin-scroll turbo now is able to make a total output of  245 horsepower and 270 lb-ft of torque. It can be fitted with an all-wheel drive option and has a substantial towing capacity that amounts to 3,500 pounds.

The base engine is a perfectly adequate choice for most people, but if your heart is set on having more, then there is the 280-hp 3.5-liter V-6 engine. This option has been carried over from the previous lineup and makes a comeback this time as well. The Edge Sport trim comes with a direct-injected 2.7-liter V-6, with a production level of 315 hp and 375 lb-ft of torque.

2016 Ford Edge engine

It is a strong and confident option which works well with the entire package that comes offered.

The six-speed automatic transmissions system is available throughout all engine trims and is paired with any engine option given here as well as the RWD. But the AWD comes as optional and you can include it on some of the given trims that you have here. The fuel economy specs are not too shabby as the base version paired with RWD comes at 20 mpg city, 30 highway, which the Sport AWD one is measured at 17/24 mpg.

The Ford F-150 has enjoyed a rather successful run on the segment thanks to its plenty of capabilities that don’t compromise on other deserving facets. The current model that the new 2017 F-150 is replacing continues to enjoy an illustrious streak in the segment despite the segment offering other similar capable alternatives.

For 2017, the new model comes with an upgraded Sync 3 infotainment system that Ford says is faster than before, and offers better graphics than the model it is replacing. See, the 2015 Ford F-150 offered the MyFord Touch system that was often critiqued due to its sluggish response and poor quality graphics. Beyond the improved infotainment system, other changes and refreshments are available as well depending on the trim level chosen.

Weight savings continue for the 2017 model. Body panels have all been constructed using aluminum metal. The result of this is considerable fuel economy savings and payload capacities. Although aluminum is expensive to repair, the panels are substantially resilient. Aside from that, the new model is offered in a multitude of trim levels and body forms ensuring that something is available for everyone.

Even the bare-bones F-150 XL model stocks a considerable amount of premium features that are unparalleled in its class. Opting for the top-of-the-line models only serves to get you up-to-the-minute technologies and equipment than you even need most of the time. Throw in the ample capability as the common denominator, and you’ll quickly realize the F-150 gives you value in abundant measure.

A stiff competition is offered in this segment, though. Some of the competitors include the Chevrolet Silverado, 2017 Ram 1500, Nissan Titan XD, and the Toyota Tundra.

2017 Ford F-150 Release Date & Price
