In addition to the obvious changes that were apparent at the 2016 Detroit Auto Show, the new 2017 Porsche 911 Turbo and Turbo S models return with a masterful handling, respectable fuel economy ratings, daily-driver seat comfort, indefatigable brakes, soulful engines, and endless customization options. For 2017, however, the new models offer more power, a new infotainment system, new look, and new features. The Porsche 911 Turbo release date takes place this April as a 2017 year model.
Both the 2017 Porsche Turbo and Turbo S models stick with the familiar twin-turbocharged 3.8L engines that now cranks out a whopping 540 and 580 horsepower respectively. This represents a power bump of about 20 horsepower for each of relative to the previous models they’re replacing.
That’s not the only news, however. 2017 Porsche 911 Turbo specs for the engines have also been updated. Now available are new higher fuel pressure, new fuel injectors, and new intake ports. Another notable add-on is the new dynamic boost function that helps maintain the pressure even when the driver lifts off the gas pedal, which it does by improving the throttle response.
The 2017 Porsche 911 Turbo S 0-60 only takes a blistering 2.8 seconds thanks to the combination of standard features such as the Sport Chrono package, an all-wheel drive system, and the seven-speed DCT system. The turbo 0-60, on the other end, takes 0.1 seconds more than the turbo S. in terms of the highest street-legal speed, Porsche says the 2017 Porsche 911 Turbo top speed stands at 198 mph, while the Turbo S achieves 205 mph.
Performance aside, there are few things that the Turbo S offers that are not available on the turbo. These include the LED headlights, eighteen-way adjustable seats, anti-roll system, unique side mirror caps, carbon fiber interior trim, and carbon ceramic brakes. Options for both include front axle lift system, and lane-change assist.
The 2017 Porsche 911 Turbo interior gets various design and item changes. Some of the items now available include the new PCM w/navigation, Wi-Fi connectivity, real-time traffic updates, a seven-inch touchscreen display, and a sport steering wheel. Moreover, there are four driving modes to choose from: Sport, Normal, Sport Plus, and Individual.
On the exterior, one thing that is conspicuously visible is the new design for LED daytime running lights. Further aback, the engine cover, exhaust tips, and bumper all boast of redesigns. The wheels beneath have new patterns as well. Just like their predecessors, the distinguishing feature for the Turbo S is the stainless steel exhaust tips in black chrome it features. The turbo, on the other end, is made unique by a high gloss chrome.
