The new 2017 Hyundai Azera has been spotted undergoing testing. Despite the heavy camouflage on its exterior, the new model seems to have received several mild refreshments touching on its exterior and interior facets. As is evident from the disguise, details of its release date and pricing are still far from being revealed. The following review is based on our rendering of the facelifted 2017 Azera.
Just like the Accent, Sonata, Elantra, and the Tucson, the refreshed 2017 Hyundai Azera returns with the brand’s signature Fluidic Sculpture design language. What this therefore means is that the new model features a sophisticated, sleek, and modern style that create a constant motion illusion. As the images show, the exterior profile is sleek and accented by carefully designed wraparound headlights and sleek roofline.
The same distinct character outside continues to flow inside. The materials’ quality has been updated, and so have the technologies thus creating an upscale ambiance. According to teaser photos, the new Azera’s luxurious appointments rival even the finest premium competitor brands. The interior, as before, remains curvaceous.
Recent rumors say the new model gets subtle interior updates such as a redesigned panoramic sunroof that allows for more natural light into the cabin. The seat design allows for a comfortable ride. And like before, leather seating is standard across the entire model range. However, the brittle, shiny plastics used in some places cheapen an otherwise excellent cabin within its price range.
It is still expected the Hyundai Azera will come with a 3.3L V6 engine rated at 293 horsepower and 255 lbs. ft. of torque. Power that is sent to the front wheels via the six-speed automatic transmission system. 0-60 mph only takes 6.8 seconds. According to previous estimates, EPA ratings give the existing model a 23 mpg for combined crash impact assessment.
Although the new model scores large in terms of the plethora of standard features offered, large trunk and passenger space, smooth ride quality, and a long warranty coverage among others, the Hyundai Azera finds itself in a segment infested with all-rounded rivals that include the Kia Cadenza, Toyota Avalon, Buick LaCrosse, and the Chrysler 300.
2017 Hyundai Azera Release Date & Price
According to pundits well versed with the segment, the new model will highly go for sale for an MSRP that exceeds the $35,175 price mark that the previous model was offered for. Lease deals should also be expected. Its release date is expected to take place sometime in mid-2017.
2017 Hyundai Azera Exterior
The exterior changes are mild, and while they’re highly concealed, our spy photographers managed to get a detail or two. First, the grille is larger than before, and together with the HID headlights, give the face a masculine stance. Second, the beltline seems to have received a mild redesign that is unique and undulating, and allows for a sleek, long roofline accented by the wraparound LED taillights and third window.
Some of the exterior features to expect include automatic headlights, 18-inch alloy wheels, and foglights for the base Azera, the Azera Limited sedan comes with an automatic high-beam control, xenon headlights, LED foglights, a panoramic sunroof, and 19-inch wheels.
2017 Hyundai Azera Interior
Although not confirmed yet, rumors allege the new model gains an outstanding performance and fuel economy efficiency. This is expected to be achieved through several weight-cutting measures that should result in delivering a great combination of fuel efficiency, performance, and agility.
Other reports say the suspension has been upgraded. Benefits of the suspension upgrade include an optimized road surface contact, an increased driving comfort, and an improved ride comfort with more wheel/body control.
Standard accessories should include keyless entry and ignition, a hands-free automatic-opening trunk, an 8-way power front passenger seat, leather upholstery, a dual-zone automatic climate control, a navigation system, satellite radio, a rearview mirror, Hyundai’s Blue Link emergency communications, a tilt-and-telescopic steering wheel, and driver-memory settings.
Two trims should be expected: 2017 Hyundai Azera base, and Limited.
