2017 GMC Acadia has been redesigned and its dimensions are now smaller, and its weight lighter than before. The result is a more maneuverable vehicle to drive, fuel thrifty at the pump, and has better handling dynamics. It is a great addition to top-rated SUVs thanks to features such as a whisper-quiet and comfortable cabin, attractive interior and exterior styling, and has plenty of interior and engine configurations. Its release date should be expected sometime in the first half of 2017, at least according to very credible whispers.
After about a decade in production, General Motors finally bowed down to pressure and gave the Acadia a full redesign that has seen it get a myriad of redesigns and upgrades. Dimensions have slightly been reduced and although this has led to some slight improvements in other areas, both leg- and headroom have been dealt a blow slightly relative to the outgoing model.
It measures 7.2-inch shorter lengthwise, sits 6.6-inches lower, and is 3.5-inches narrower than before. In spite of these changes, it still remains very competitive in the midsize SUV segment. Again, the new model has shed some weight, which GMC estimates to be around 700 pounds. This directly improves the fuel economy ratings and also improves on its maneuverability. In fact, the fuel economy for the FWD models with the new 2.5L engine are estimated at 28 mpg on the highway cruising. The Stop-start technology also boosts the city fuel economy to 22 mpg. There’s also the 3.6L V6 engine that is both efficient and powerful and delivers a stonking power of 310 hp enabling it achieve a maximum towing capacity of around 4,000 pounds.
Three-row seating is unchanged on most models, while still featuring additional powertrains in addition to the existing ones. “The all-new GMC Acadia leverages GMC’s proven reliability to shake up and take on the midsize crossover segment through offering a unique mix of capability, technology, and design.” said Duncan Aldred – Vice President of GMC Sales & Marketing. “General Motors is an able and ever-growing premium brand that has continued to be the hallmark of our success story.”

This is what the executive director, Global GMC User Experience and Design – Helen Emsley had to say, “The new 2017 GMC Acadia design language has been influenced by consumer input. The brand new model has a modern, mature SUV design conveyed in the sleeker windshield angle, sculptural details, and sleeker corners.”
The wraparound headlights and new dimensional grilles reinforce the refined and confident appearance of its front end, while GMC’s premium attributes are armor-plated with the LED signature lighting on all models.
