The horsepower wars are alive and thriving thanks to the new 2017 Dodge Challenger model series that are expected to roar their way into the American muscle market. In addition to the regular Dodge Challenger, Dodge will also be offering the Dodge Challenger TA, Dodge Challenger T/A Plus, and the Dodge Challenger TA 392 models. Pricing estimates and release date rumors have also been covered.
For the past weeks, the 2017 Dodge Challenger has been caught undergoing test drives somewhere in Europe. Although most of the details are disguised, our team of spy photographers managed to get some details that reflect the changes buyers should expect for the new model year. What we can however talk of without any fear of contradiction are what the Dodge Challenger TA, Dodge Challenger T/A Plus, and the Dodge Challenger TA 392 offer.
The Dodge Challenger T/A 2017 is considered as one of the most sought after muscle car of all time. Its debut into the muscle car segment can be traced back to the ‘70s where only 2,399 units were built under the Sports Car Club of America’s Trans Am racing series umbrella. The new model builds on the same illustrious reputation by offering unique performance hardware and appointments.
Some of the features that make the 2017 Dodge Challenger T/A distinct include additional functional performance hardware, a modified SRT Hellcat air box, and LED-illuminated T/A logos. Others include lightweight forged-aluminum wheels, an electronically controlled active performance exhaust system, and signature fresh-air inlets. Complementing the standard performance spec sheet is the Super Track Pak that harbors race-bred chassis upgrades. Including high-performance Goodyear Eagle F1 tires, a three-mode electronic stability control calibration, performance brake linings, high-performance Bilstein shock absorbers, and a 0.5 inch lowered suspension system.
Back to the “normal” 2017 Dodge Challenger, reports say it’ll come with a plethora of heritage-inspired Dodge exterior appointments that include black deck-lid spoiler, Satin Black fuel-filler door, “Challenger” script grille badge, new center wheel caps, and a Satin Black painted hood and front fascia.
So just like before, the 2017 Dodge Challenger offers an authentic muscle car persona backed up by a surprising practicality and real performance. One year down the line and we’re still impressed by the available customization options, an enormous cargo space, strong engine choices, and a relative drive quality. Evidently, the new model has so much up its sleeve.
While that may be true, the American muscle car segment also offers several alternatives that include the 2016 Ford Mustang, the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro, and the 2016 Dodge Charger.
2017 Dodge Challenger Release Date & Price
Pricing for the regular 2017 Challenger is unknown at the moment, however, what we know is that it won’t increase that much over the current price that start from $30,000. The high-performance Dodge Challenger T/A and Challenger T/A 392 models attract an MSRP that starts from $37,390 and $43,995 respectively, for the USA market. The release date should be expected sometime in early 2017 for the Challenger T/A and somewhere in the latter half for the regular Challenger model.
2017 Dodge Challenger Exterior
After a complete overhaul two years ago, Dodge seems to be resting on its laurels. Although we cannot complain much given the exemplary design inside and out, Dodge could have at least done some burnishing to help it continue being a standout in its class. Some of the exterior features you can expect include 18-inch wheels, rear air vents, LED “halo” running lights, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, an auxiliary audio jack, a USB port, and optional 20-inch wheels. All the features above are offered for the humble V6-powered SXT model.
2017 Dodge Challenger Interior
As can be seen from the images, the interior has slightly been facelifted, with the cockpit now featuring world-class technology, execution, and materials. Just like before, the new model returns with a myriad of customization features. For instance, it comes with fourteen different color and trim selections. Materials’ choices are also dizzying.
Although we can’t authoritatively confirm this, it is highly likely that the new 2017 Dodge Challenger will be offered in a dizzying number of variations and trims that make even the U.S tax code much easier to understand. The trim lineup includes Challenger SXT, Challenger R/T, Challenger R/T Shaker, Challenger R/T Scat Pack, Challenger SXT Plus, Challenger R/T Plus, Challenger R/T Shaker Plus, Challenger 392 Scat Pack, Challenger SRT 392, and finally, the Challenger SRT Hellcat. Whoa! The choice is yours, folks!
