For 2017, the same aforementioned elements that have characterized the Enclave since its debut return but with a higher sophistication and refinement degree, in addition to latest technologies and better performance. Among the trio of the GM best crossover lineup that includes the GMC Acadia and the Chevrolet Traverse, I must say that we particularly love the Buick Enclave. While that is solely our own preference from our point of view, the Enclave is arguably more classy and comfortable. Also, it’s less thirsty than Chevy Suburban, GMC Yukon, and the Cadillac Escalade. The model under review also prides itself as being the first vehicle from GMC to receive the first series of new designs ranging from a smartly configured seating arrangement, a well-appointed interior, to tasteful shoulder lines and chrome waterfall grille.
With the exception of the base model, the rest of the model lineup that make up the Enclave get a choice of either front-wheel drive of all-wheel drive system. For 2017, the new vehicle gets a black grille and a range of new colors that are tacked on the Sport Touring package. As for the performance, the vehicle still returns with the same V6 mill that makes 288 hp and 270 lbs. ft. of torque under the hood. Pairing is via the six-speed automatic transmission system.
Driving dynamics are impressive. Handling is responsive, and ride quality smooth on most surfaces. While it doesn’t lean excessively in curves, its humongous size makes it feel big on narrow roads. The weight is also felt in the way it takes off, handles, and stops.
The interior is cavernous and comes with three rows of seating. Although the first two rows offer plenty of head- and legroom, the third row isn’t a place we’d advice adults to sit for hours of driving. Methinks it is best left to elementary school going kids. Further aback, the Enclave provides a useful cargo capacity that Buick estimates to be 115 cu. ft.
