2016 Lincoln MKX Release Date, Review, MSRP Price, Specs – With the release of the 2016 Lincoln MKX you still get a car which aims to be comfort-orientated and which possesses a very savvy and luxurious design, but this time it manages to add a little bit of something to it and that something is performance for this year. The vehicle is going to be the same kind of Lincoln that you have surely been expecting as its luxurious setup is still there, but something which was not expected is that the MKX ups its performance and production.
For already nine years the Lincoln MKX was a magnificent vehicle with great luxury specs and a great setup which allowed it to tackle with the giants of the segment coming from Lexus. The car unfortunately made due only in its home city of Detroit as outside of there it did not manage to sell so well. With the second generation coming our way this time we are prepared for the MKX to break that cycle and become a vehicle which will be looked for all over.
The new 2016 Lincoln MKX was showcased for the first time this year at the Detroit Auto Show and it immediately showed us that it had a whole new range of features and additions that will make it a much stronger contender for the upcoming year. With a wider range of trims, a better cabin setup and overall broadened appeal we cannot wait for the release date of the MKX to come. While waiting you can check out our review of the car and see what it’s all about and also consider the rivals which in the top include the 2017 Jaguar F-Type, 2016 Porsche Macan and 2016 BMW X3.
2016 Lincoln MKS exterior
The design is very smooth and does not have any additional edges to it added. The crisp restyle of the 2016 Lincoln MKX exterior is a very good addition and shows us how well and car can be remodeled to fit the new crowd. Actually with some more graceful and appealing lines the car does look a bit smaller, when it actually is not. From some angels you can even mistake for the MKC or the smaller version. The voluptuous looks that the car has been given now account for a lot of appeal of the car as they get some wagon-like characteristics and design cues that were not really expected to happen.
The front side of the car receives a new grille design which is actually a kind of a stretched out version of the Lincoln’s trademark split-wing grille. The headlamps that surround the grille on the front are some newly added blades which stretch out the front side of the car in proportion a bit. The headlamps all receive a full LED treatment and also have a new special feature that which adds more width to the low beams using a reflector which is noticeable up to the 35 mph speed limit.
The inside of the car will be a familiar setting for those who have already been inside a Lincoln MKX vehicle. It uses a similar style but adds to it with some modern upgrades and technological additions. The shift lever was removed and replaced with a push-button which has been pushed a bit low but close enough to the center console panel. It is actually just appropriately placed to bridge the span between the instrument panel and the center console. It looks much more appropriate with this kind of setup and it is fairly easy to use this way.
Lincoln has also wanted to make its interior a bit more distinctive and and thus wanted to add some new color themes on the inside. That is why there is a total of four new Black Label design themes included now, which also add the Modern Heritage and the Indulgence themes to your roster of picks here. These themes were actually inspired by the fashion and lifestyle of Paris from the period of 1920s, so if you are a fan you will no doubt enjoy the use of these color themes.
What is the greatest innovation brought to us with the new 2016 Lincoln MKX car are its new drivetrain options. The MKX will still use the 3.7-liter V-6 engine as its base choice, which creates 300 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque, but will also add the use of the 2.7-liter trin-turbo ‘EcoBoost’ V-6 makes more than 330 hp and 370 lb-ft for this year as well. Both of the engine trims will come available with a six-speed automatic transmission and as before there will be a choice between using a front-wheel drive or an all-wheel drive. This time you will also have the use of the Lincoln Drive Control, which allows you to shift between Normal, Sport, and Comfort modes.
