The new 2017 Cadillac CTS is distinct, modern, well-trimmed, and engaging, and promises to be solid contender among midsize luxury sport sedans. Highlights for 2017 include a sophisticated interior design, superb handling, top crash-test scores, brawny acceleration, and a well-appointed cabin. Its release date should be expected sometime in the second half of 2017.
Cadillac’s concerted efforts in the last couple of years are starting to pay off thanks to the clever engineering and incessant innovation resulting in a luxurious-appointed, and sharply designed 2017 CTS. It is particularly a standout in its segment owing to the fact that it offers a class-leading handling, and styling although the latter can be biased either way depending on one’s experience with other models.
Just like is bogeys, the CTS comes equipped with an agile four-cylinder turbocharged engine under its hood. It’s not a great way to start, admittedly, as the mill trails the rest in terms of fuel economy and overall refinement. However, you can opt for the 355-horsepowwer – generating 3.6L engine or the 420-horsepower – producing V6. Either way, the power and acceleration are impressive especially if you gravitate towards the thrilling twin-turbocharged V6 offered with the CTS V sport.
Interior wise, the level of styling, although subjective, is impressive and very few cars can match its refinement in terms of the standard features offered for its base model. Niceties offered include Apple CarPlay connectivity, a self-parking system, dual-zone automatic climate control, adaptive suspension dampers, a panoramic sunroof/moonroof, and a faster and responsive CUE infotainment system.
The bells and whistles offered by the 2017 Cadillac CTS aren’t unparalleled, as the segment offers other alternatives that offer matching or even better features. The BMW 5 Series happens to be the arch rival that sends shivers down the CTS’s spine. It offers a more mature infotainment system that CTS’s CUE, its array of engines are superb, and its overall interior refinement is hands down impressive. The same is true for both the Audi A6 and the Mercedes-Benz E-Class.
