2016 Lexus ES Release Date, Pictures, Price, Specs, Review – The first vehicle carrying the ES badge from Lexus came out in 1990, and at first it was clearly a Camry copycat with perhaps only the badge of the car being swiped for the Lexus ES one. As the first model was named ES 250, the second was renamed to the ES 300 and came out in 1992, but still there were a lot of similarities to the Camry. It was only in 2002 that Lexus realized that it had to change some things and managed to divorce itself from the clear Camry design which managed to continue with the ES 330 model in 2004 and the ES 350 in 2007.
The year of 2013 was the year that marked the first major overhaul of the vehicle and was also something that set it on the correct path to success which now gets its third version with the 2016 model. The new luxury sedan that is the 2016 Lexus ES is a car which has been made through an evolution that started from the first model in 1990 and it shows how the car has been getting better with time. The new model is currently the peak that Lexus has to offer with its ES brand.
The 2016 model was first showcased at the Shanghai Auto Show this year and will be available for release next year and it actually shows us how a model revision is done properly. The vehicle received some facelifts here and there and carried over the engine from the previous year and being that this is the best-selling luxury sedan in the roster of Lexus we assume that this update is good enough to enable it to continue with the great sales for the upcoming period as well. The models that are widely associated with this model are also the Audi A6 and the Cadillac CTS one. Read the rest of the vehicle and take a look at some exclusive pictures of the 2016 Lexus ES car.
2016 Lexus ES exterior
As this is a minor facelift for the exterior design of the 2016 Lexus ES, the car mainly retained the better part of its previous design. In fact, the shape and size of the vehicle remained the same for the better part while some lesser changes were made here and there. One of the changes is the introduction of the trademark Lexus spindle grille matted to the front fascia of the sedan which is framed with satin chrome and some revised LED headlight. The headlights are slimmer than before while the grille has a “one-piece” design. Below it you can also see the redesigned bumper that has some fog lights while at the back the taillights have been replaced with some L-shaped cluster units. You will also notice the rectangular exhaust outlets, a new trunk lid spoiler and a revised chrome trim at the back.
The car also receives the new 17-inch alloy wheels as an optional choice and four new exterior colors to choose from. New for the Lexus ES this year are Autumn Shimmer, Nightfall Mica, Caviar, and Eminent White Pearl color choice that you can add to your car. Generally speaking, the ES has been given the Lexus corporate look now and as it is only a minor refresh and not a complete overhaul it actually boats well for the car and is something that will keep the sales going for this year as well.
The interior of the 2016 Lexus ES was already good enough as it is, so there was no big need to change the inside in a great manner. Yet a refresh was needed to keep these things suitable with the release of a new model. Thus the car has been given some tweaks that upgrade the looks and the functionality of the car a bit. It receives the Linear Dark Mocha wood trim, Bamboo with a matt instead of a gloss finish and also an Illustrious Piano Black wood trim. The car also gets a Flaxen interior which makes the use of the combination of brown upholsteries, a black dashboard and two-tone door panels.
There are also some technological advancements made inside the car which include giving the ES new connectivity with Lexus Enform Remote and Lexus Safety System+ systems. Both the ES 350 and the ES 300h have been given the same technological upgrade so you can find all of this in both of the vehicles. They also include the Intelligent High Beam and High-Speed Dynamic Radar Cruise Control with the Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist as well. And let’s not forget the Mark Levinson premium sound system and the panoramic roof which are included in the optional package.
The powertrain system of the 2016 Lexus ES has been unaltered for the upcoming year, meaning that both the ES 350 and the ES 300h have the same transmission and engine setups as before. The ES 350 continues with a 3.5-liter V-6 that makes 268 horsepower and 248 pound-feet of torque and combines with a six-speed automatic transmission. The EPA ratings are set at 21 mpg city, 31 mpg highway, and 24 mpg combined.
The ES 300h uses the hybrid combo that combines the 2.5-liter, four-cylinder Atkinson-cycle gasoline engine and an electric motor, which delivers the power to the wheels through a CVT system. The EPA rating is the same as last year, 40 mpg, while the car generates a top speed of 112 mph and can speed up to 60 mph in 8.1 seconds time.
