2016 Kia Rio Release Date, MSRP Price, Specs, Colors – The Kia Rio vehicle has been launched for the first time back in 2001 as a legit alternative vehicle for the Japanese equivalents which are much pricier. The Rio is still in its second generation form and as we are not getting the next gen car pretty soon, Kia deemed it fit that a light mid-life refresh was in order. Thus we get a 2016 Kia Rio which will arrive in dealerships any time soon.
The latest vehicle from Kia was showcased at the Paris Auto Show last year and gave us a glimpse on what to expect of the forthcoming car. Now when its release date gets nearer and nearer it was fit to make a review and tell you what to expect from the coming Rio car. The car comes in both hatchback and sedan forms now, with the sedan version being a bit more updated to match the characteristics of the hatch which was changed already before.
The refresh was necessary for a whole other reason as well. The 2014 sales year measured a large drop in sales of the Rio vehicle, so much that the competition that is the Nissn Versa, Chevy Sonic or Ford Fiesta vehicles took the primes spots in this segment and did not allow the Rio to make it back in any way. Thus this updated will determine if the Rio is fit enough to swim with the big fishes and everyone is hoping that it will at least raise some sales at first.
2016 Kia Rio exterior
There was a large updated added to the design of the new 2016 Kia Rio exterior. It now incorporates some changes done to the front and rear fascia that provide the car with a lower and much wider and thus a great sporty look. Up front you will notice the same but much thinner tiger grille added which also pushes the headlights a bit inward. There are some new fog lights added while the surrounds have been complete revised. The lower valance is larger and straighter than the one seen in the 2015 model which also adds to the enhanced and lower and wider look of the new Kia Rio.
The back side was unfortunately not refreshed that much as the front, but it does not matter as it looks great like this for the newest design. What was added were the new reflectors which have been placed closer to the outer side of the bumpers. This also enhances the look of the car a bit and helps the spread the winded image a bit. Other changes about the exterior are concerned with the colors. The car now receives the Urban Blue and Digital Yellow and two new color options for the 2016 model year. We assume that these changes will be enough to make the car a lot more attractive and also provide it with a needed boost in sales.
There are some adequate changes on the interior of the 2016 Kia Rio. The main change means using the more high-density foam within the A-pillars and the B-pillars which actually results in reducing the NVH. The previous design of the cabin made the Rio already a car with a pretty quiet inside and the added changes for the 2016 will only add to this and make things even better. The added materials make the vehicle get a higher-grade feel compared to before and give a much better atmosphere like this. The incorporated changes include the piano-black center console and the satin-finish bezels around the air vents.
If you decide to go with the Designer Package, available in the EX models, you will get a two-tone color scheme cabin, black cloth seats with leatherette trim and grey stitching.
