With the stage already set for the unveiling of the new 2016 Ford Mustang, the car will certainly come with several updates that will ensure the existing buyers are maintained while new ones are attracted. The outgoing model has enough retro-styling, but Ford will be adding another one in the forthcoming vehicle.

For starters, turn signals mounted on the hood vents made the first appearance on the 1967 Mustang, and now they are back in the new vehicle by popular demand. The automaker says that their fanatic followers have been ‘clamoring’ for this unusual feature.

New features in the new Mustang include the new Sync 3 system with a simplified interface that now replaces the Mustang’s optional MyFord Touch infotainment system, while the GT and EcoBoost coupes gain an available black-painted roof.

The forthcoming new Ford Mustang will be made available as either a coupe or a soft-top convertible. Trim levels to expect will include the V6, EcoBoost Premium, EcoBoost, GT and GT Premium. For the Mustang V6, expect it to come with 17” alloy wheels, a limited slip differential, automatic xenon headlights, LED taillights with sequential turn signals, cruise control, keyless ignition, air conditioning, and others.

For the EcoBoost Premium, you should expect some of the following features; Premier Trim with color Accent package (color-accented leather upholstery, charcoal black color and unique door trim), a Pony package (unique front fascia, 19” wheels, side stripe, pony logo floor mats), adaptive cruise control, a navigation system, forward collision alert, blind spot monitoring, automatic wipers, rear cross traffic alert, HD radio, 12-speaker Shaker audio system, and driver memory settings (not available with Recaro upholstered seats)

The GT performance package will now be offered on the Convertible and the Coupe, and all the GT models will come with standard secondary turn signals that are incorporated into the hood vents. Available novelties now include the Black Accent and the Pony package (EcoBoost) and the California Special packages.

However, the Shelby GT350 is separately covered. As for the top of the range GT Premium version, it will make a debut with basically all EcoBoost Premium features as standard and the same options. However, instead of the Pony package, it will come with the California Special Package (a prominent rear spoiler, 19” black alloy wheels, and a special exterior and interior trim detail).

Coming as an optional feature is the Rear parking sensor, while the GT and EcoBoost coupes will be eligible for a black painted roof. The GT Premium and EcoBoost Premium will come with 20” wheels. Standard safety features for the new vehicle will include antilock brakes, rear view camera, traction and stability control, front-seat side airbags, driver knee airbag and side curtain airbags.

Engine Specs – 2016 Ford Mustang

The RWD mustang is offered with either a 6-speed auto with paddle shifters or 6-speed manual transmission system. Under the hood of the vehicle will be three engines available. The first one will be a 3.7L V6 engine with an output of around 300 horsepower and 280 pounds of torque in the standard base model.

According to EPA ratings, the base 2016 Ford Mustang will return 17/28/21 mpg in the city/highway/combined with the manual transmission system and 19/28/22 mpg in the city/highway/combined.

The EcoBoost trim model will step up a bit in the powertrain segment and come with a turbocharged 2.3L 4-cylinder engine that will be capable of producing 310 hp and 320 pounds of torque. The fuel economy rating for the new vehicle is estimated at 22/31/26 mpg in the city/highway/combined with the manual transmission system and 21/32/25 mpg with the automatic transmission system.

The GT, on the other hand, will pack a 5L V8 engine that cranks out 435 hp and 400 pounds of torque. As for the fuel economy ratings, the vehicle should return 15/25/19 mpg in the city/highway/combined with the automatic transmission system.

Price & Release Date for the New 2016 Ford Mustang

The 2016 Ford Mustang GT350 price will be around 23,800USD. Unfortunately, the release date of the new 2016 Ford Mustang hasn’t been shared with the public as yet but we expect the details soon. There are rumors that the gt350r will come with a significant weight reduction by deleting the rear seats and rolling on carbon fiber wheels.
