2016 Chevrolet Equinox Release Date, Colors, Specs, Price – For starters, Equinox is a top Chevrolet seller and the sales spree doesn’t seem like it will slumber anytime soon with the expected release date of the fresh 2016 Chevrolet Equinox being just around the corner.
Going by industry rumors, the new 2016 Equinox is set to be released with a comfort-oriented ride and standard V6 engine. But that isn’t even the tip of the freshness iceberg. In a nut shell, the new Equinox will certainly come equipped with better suited features and equipment necessary to keep the comfort and performance unprejudiced by the America’s underfunded road infrastructure.
The above-mentioned V6 engine will definitely be a peach too, with adequate power on tap for passing uphill logs and trail maneuvers. Some of its potential rivals come fitted with a turbocharged 4-cylinders, however, there is something better in the tried-and-true naturally aspirated V6 engine.
When properly equipped, the Equinox should be able to tow up to 3,500lbs, which is simply amazing. Aside from these breath-taking traits and praises, the Equinox is generally outmatched by several other leaders in this segment. One downside in particular is the underwhelming 4-cylinder engine, which we hope will be overhauled for 2016 year model.
In case you find the Equinox unexciting, other kids on the block include the Honda CR-V, which comes with a very fuel efficient engine and a spacious cargo volume in the back as well. Another practical vehicle that is more entertaining to ride is the Mazda CX-5. Others include the high-tech and agile Ford Escape and Hyundai Santa Fe Sport.
Exterior Body Styles & Interior Photos – 2016 Chevrolet Equinox
For starters, the new Equinox comes as a compact Sports Utility Vehicle available in four trims: LS, L, LT and top-of-the-line LTZ model.
Some of the standard features we should look forward on the entry-level L includes automatic headlights, keyless entry, cloth upholstery, air-conditioning, a driver seat with power height adjustment, a 60/40-split second-row seat that slides and reclines, a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel with audio controls, cruise control, and a trip computer. Also coming standard include onboard electronics, OnStar communications, Bluetooth phone connectivity, 17-inch alloy wheels, and a six-speaker sound system.
The LT trim level is split into 1LT and 2LT sections. The 1LT should add roof rack side rails, rear privacy glass, heated mirrors, premium cloth upholstery, a rearview camera and an upgraded audio system that has a seven-inch touchscreen, voice controls, Bluetooth audio connectivity, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and smartphone integration.
Moving up to the 2LT should get you remote start, foglights, an 8-way power driver seat, heated front seats, a Pioneer sound system with eight speakers and an auto-dimming aft mirror.
At the top of the line is the LTZ, which should further add a power liftgate, 18-inch chromed alloy wheels, an eight-way power passenger seat, leather upholstery, driver memory settings, forward collision alert, rear parking sensors, and a lane departure warning system.
Stand-alone options should include a sunroof, 19-inch chrome-clad alloy wheels, and a navigation system.
Engine Specs – 2016 Chevy Equinox
The new vehicle is going to be offered with several powertrains. A 2.4L 4-cylinder and a 3.6L V6 engine. Both of the engines will be mated to a 6-speed auto transmission system and are provided with either a FWD or an AWD system.
The 2.4L 4-cylinder engine is capable of generating 182 hp and 172 pounds of torque. In our own performance testing, the 2015 model was capable of dashing from 0-60 mph in 9.8 seconds with the 4-cylinder, which is slower than average. The same engine gave EPA ratings of 22/32/26 mpg in the city/highway/combined. We should, however, expect better ratings for the 2016 model.
The other engine is a 3.6L V6 capable of cranking out 301 hp and 272 pounds of torque. When properly equipped, the four-cylinder 2016 Chevy Equinox should be capable of towing a cool 1,500lbs, while the V6 increases that by 2000lbs to 3,500 pounds.
Some of the safety features to look forward to include but not limited to traction and stability control, antilock disc brakes, and side curtain airbags.
