2016 BMW X1 Release Date, Price, Specs, Interior – 2016 year will certainly mark the entry of the new mini SUV from the world-renowned German automobile giant. The new 2016 BMW X1 comes with a sportier design, enhanced roominess due to the FWD layout and an updated engine. But, the vehicle will also feature several downsides which include the FWD layout which might turn out to be a disappointment for old-school fanatics, it might also need more engines especially in the U.S.A, and it will be downright costly in its segment.
We can all reminisce that it has been almost 6 years since BMW entered the Sports Utility Vehicle segment. The good news are with us as the German automobile giant has just made headlines with the 2nd-gen version of the car that made Mercedes-Benz and Audi create the GLA and Q3 respectively.
For starters, the vehicle was first introduced in ’99 as the brand’s tiniest SUV and forth crossover after the likes of BMW X5, BMW X3, and the BMW X6. Notably, X1 gained respect in terms of good fuel economy, powerful engines, and impressive sedan dynamics.
It has seen success in terms of sales with almost one million units having been sold globally last year alone. The new X1 will definitely have big shoes to fit in and it’s trying its best to outsmart its predecessor through creating a refreshed exterior, revamping its interior, and updating its engines.
2016 BMW X1 Leaked Photos – Exterior
As was expected, the new SUV from BMW sports a modern design with stylish finish that have been borrowed from the X5 and X3. Front wise, there will be a slightly larger grille and extended, restyled headlamps.
Also, the new 2016 BMW X1 has received larger air intakes and larger fog lamps that have not only made the vehicle bigger than the previous model, but more assertive as well. Side wise, the vehicle seems similar to the model it is replacing from the waist line down. The side skirt seems identical to its predecessor, while the beltline still remains intact.
But, things are dissimilar from the waist up, with a bigger quarter window, a raked roofline, taller glass area, and a better sculpted tailgate.
Around back, there are comparatively bigger taillights, which look refreshed than in the previous model. Also, there is a stylish and modern sculpted bumper area and tailgate.

Within the cabin, customers will discover a wholly restyled interior. And despite the vehicle coming with some carryover features, it will still factor in some evolutionary cues. What’s more, it will come with enough room for its passengers than its predecessors, and improved luggage volume as well. The legroom dimensions have been improved by 1.5” and a max of 2.6” with the standard specification and selective inclining aft seat respectively.
Also, the seat space has been increased by more than 2.5” at the rear and 1” at the front. The cargo volume has also been improved by about 15% when the aft seats have been folded flat.
Moving on to the interior styling, the dash now features a sleek style due to the well-spaced A/C vents and “floating display”. The list of standard features includes a multifunction, a seven-speaker audio system, leather wrapped steering wheel, heated front seats, and cruise control. The option list also includes a leatherette upholstery, an 8.8-inch display, a panoramic moonroof, Bluetooth connectivity, sunroof, a 12-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, and many more.
